First – before I really get rolling…are you one of those folks that need to get “past the hump” of making a website, getting it up, AND having a product to sell on it, over and over? It’s FREE for the basic edition and only $9 bucks for the ecommerce edition – you should look at it!
Hello Folks!
Making Money on the internet has this ONE THING going for it
You can do this!
that most other marketing methods don’t have.
This is what “it” is.
“It” is that you can match your offer to your customer. You don’t have to try to sell shoes to a line of people that want everything from wheelbarrows to computers.
You can make it so that your “lineup of customers” are people who are only interested in shoes!
Think about it. You have shoes for sale. Just outside your door is a line of people who want to buy shoes. Incredible. Real, too.
Think about it again. My next post will cover this deeply since it is one of the prime tenets of successful Internet Marketing.
Call it the “Don’t try to sell something they don’t want to your customer” tenet.
Next post will be “How to get customers that want your offer to come to your offer and buy there.”
Now…the story.
I manage a Google Adwords account for a furniture store in Eugene, Oregon.
When I was fairly new at this I set up an ad campaign for them with a budget for that segment of about 1000 dollars.
Every thing had been going well so far. Business was up at the store and my ad prices were dropping as I managed to improve the quality score.
Then I forgot something. One little thing.
I forgot to double check my links.
I had at the time several adwords campaigns going, all generating traffic to this one furniture store’s website, and, subsequently, to the store itself.
I had made a little teeny typo. You couldn’t even see it if you looked for it.
But it shuttled our paid clicks straight to a 404 page and we lost them.
I could see the clicks happening but Google Analytics wasn’t racking up the incoming on my traffic reports so I was suspicious of something but I didn’t know what.
I’d like to say I stopped it really fast and fixed the link but it didn’t quite go that way. I actually clicked the ad myself and darn near fell over backwards when the 404 page popped up! I had wasted over 700 dollars sending potential customers into a box canyon. I started to feel a panic rising.
My face turned beet red as I hurriedly stopped the campaign and started checking ALL the links. All were OK. There are about two hundred. All except this one ad group – my best performing ad group.
What had I done wrong?
I failed to double check the links.
I haven’t failed to double check the links again.
Still, as soon as I’m done with this post I’ll rip over to Adwords and check my links.
By the way, I personally paid for the bad links and it was probably a cheap lesson in diligence.
I NEVER forget to double check my links now.
I think.

PS: Next post – Negative keywords can save your you know what.
So… finding an offer is not hard. Finding Traffic can be.
psps: check this out!!
Finding traffic that WANTS to buy your specific offer presents a larger challenge than most people want to deal with but it can be broken down into little steps that anyone with some work ethic can get done.
To get traffic to the site you have your offer on, traffic that wants to buy what you are offering, you have to know which keywords that traffic types in.
Then you have to find, out of that list of keywords, the phrases that YOU can rank for. You can’t rank for them all. There are big boys out there and they can be some real hogs.
But there are always some good keywords you can rank for and the first and biggest step in your SEM efforts is to identify those keywords and go after them with vigor.
I did and it worked! And I just followed instructions.
A big difference between my earlier, confused, efforts to bring targeted traffic to certain offers and what I am doing now is that I am following a plan that actually works! Not only does it work but it doesn’t cost much.
It mostly just takes effort.
If you’d like to know what I’m doing and how to do it yourself just check out The Keyword Academy.
Just remember…a good offer and the right traffic to that offer. Two things that will work to enable you to earn money online everytime.
Not bragging, just facts. And mostly effort.
