This is where I started to “get targeted web site visitors.” For me, at this blog, in November of 2009 was when I saw that writing a series of posts built around a certain keyword (take your pick) and it’s “nested and related keywords” would start to give you traffic from Google FOR that keyword.
For example, the last person to arrive at this blog came from when they typed in the keyword “targetted traffic” – a misspelling to be sure but the searcher was looking for targeted traffic. – But it WAS one of the keywords I targeted. See “free targeted traffic.”
In Lisa Parmley’s Inline SEO course, I found out that you have to have links back to that page that start at certain anchor text. For this page “targeted traffic” would be the MAIN keyword.
For example the page at http://makinganinternetmarketer.com/targetted-traffic/ has to have links pointed at it that originate on ANOTHER PAGE and emanating from “in-context anchor text.” BUT it can’t be only ONE FORM of anchor text! You have to have “variations.” Otherwise it doesn’t look “natural” and Google will discount the link.
So THIS page has links on lots of other pages,out there in the online world, that come from “varied” anchor text such as “targetted traffic” “free targeted traffic” “cheap targeted traffic” AND “targeted traffic” – The actual keyword targeted with THIS page! See the URL of this page. Get it?
Anyway, since I started doing this traffic has done two important things. It has increased AND become more targeted – both VERY good.
The links in your articles resource boxes would want to look like this ’For more information on how to generate targeted traffic or… for more information on how to get targeted traffic or…for more information on how to get targeted traffic…see Riley’s famous blog at….’
That’s the type of links you want pointing at the page you are trying to get ranked for.
Links from article resource boxes are good…BUT the “Golden Link” the link of all links… is an in-context, “your-keyword-here” text link from a well-ranked website YOU do not control.
Which brings us to a sort of “jumping off” point.

Update Feb 17 2010: This page was originally posted on Nov 19 2009. It got indexed right away and, after a week or so came out in position 500+ Not good. Not Good at all. Plus it completely disappeared now and then. I wrote some articles and got it a LOT of backlinks. After another week or so it came too position #240. Not good but twice as good as 500+. A week or two after that it clicked down to position #125-130 for about two weeks. Still nowhere near the front. This week Feb 15 2010, it moved to position 58 and hasn’t wavered.
For example check out the post on keyword targeted traffic and see that is is ranked #16 for that term as of Feb 19 2010 and THAT IS CLOSE to page one rankings – the goal New update on March 1 2010 and the page aimed at ranking for the long-tail keyword ‘keyword targeted traffic’ is at position 13 AND 14 in Google. Even better! But…
That’s progress, but when it comes to ranking for a keyword in order to benefit from the traffic that is bestowed upon you because of your good position, you want the ranking to get there fast…and stay there!I’m building a few more links to it and see what it does. This is new territory for me. In this territory you write an optimized post – This was truly my first one – and you start doing the work to advance it in the ranking. It rankes for targeted traffic at position 58 right now. That’s the 6th page. Not far to go.
In this business of “Getting Ranked For Certain Keywords” Google hands you a few scares now and then. Like this post disappeared out of Google for a few days at a time here and there. It shocks you, but it has always come back. Google is NOT the enemy. I have to give them what they want.
That would be optimized content around Targeted Traffic and backlinks from articles and “natural” sources. Natural sources would be a link from a relevant site to this post.

It’s tough isn’t it? You want to make money online but you are having trouble getting started. Or you HAVE started and are still having trouble producing sales. It just seems like you can’t get traction.
Please let me give your something that can give you traction.
Here it is…
Offer + Traffic = Sales.
Sound simple? Actually it is.
My guess is your trouble is traffic…it was, and still is, my main concern.
But… I am watching my traffic graph move up now, like a slow elevator.
I learned a few things lately, and, even more importantly, I implemented what I learned! You can do it too!
If you want FREE TRAFFIC that comes to YOUR site to BUY what you are offering there are two main choices.
You can go with PPC. Pay per click. Adwords. Or…
You can get to the first page of Google, Yahoo, and MSN by picking the right keyword and optimizing your offer pages to rank for that keyword.
Stompernet ran a survey and came up with the conclusion that people who click on “organic” serp listings are 4 times more likely to buy than the people who click on PPC ads.
To get on level ground, that means that you can run an organic results SEO search engine marketing campaign that gets 1/4th of the clicks of a PPC campaign.
Yes. There is more than one way to let the camel into the tent.
I want you to get this idea.
If you can solve the traffic problem it’s a heck of a lot easier to get going AND solving conversion problems. Monetization just falls into your lap!

some customers of mine. They do well enough at it to stay with it but my method of getting traffic is more efficient.
What do I mean by efficient? Well…free, AND it works!
I just love FREE TRAFFIC for my sites. But not just any old traffic. I need traffic coming to my sales pages that are interested in buying what I am offering. It’s usually called “targeted traffic”.
And I love the concept of free traffic and especially free, quality traffic. When I make a sale my profit (commission) is 96 to 98% all mine. I don’t have to send out a check for the traffic as in Adwords.

You CAN do this. I know. I did it.
My sites are what I call affiliate sites. The product I am promoting is not mine.
Example: One of my sites – Pot Pie Girl.
For me, I feel right when the products I advertise are products that I have personally used or benefited from – especially in the information product business.
But the short story is I have offers on web pages that NEED traffic or it doesn’t work!
I mean the offer doesn’t get seen by someone who would like to see it.
You see that’s the single biggest advantage to Internet Marketing.
You can show your “umbrella” offer to people typing in “red umbrellas.” In the outside world that’s known as a “laydown” or a “qualified lead” and it’s JUST the kind of traffic you want looking at your offer.
Let’s look at my best way of getting traffic to my sites and maximizing the opportunity.
Just a side note – THIS page you are reading has a very respectable PR3 ranking. It GETS SEEN! This box is direct from Google.
But let’s get YOU to GET SEEN! (equals traffic!)
My best methods are article marketing and keyword ranking for my site that are BOTH accomplished every time I write and submit an article. There is NO article you can lose money or position on. They ONLY improve you.
I use my article to establish rapport and to get the reader to feel inclined to click my links at the bottom of the page in what’s known as a resource box.
But get this…this is killer.
I have a list of keywords that I picked especially for their ease in ranking for. I am currently on Google Page One for several of my keywords and they send me steady traffic.
Page one on Google causes traffic! But that’s not all.
Every time I make the links in my resource box I make them like this….Find out more about “free targeted traffic” (where the quote marks frame my link words – anchor text) and that is automatically registered by Google as a one way link to my site that is named “free targeted traffic.”
Targeted Traffic is Buying Traffic!
That causes my site to move up on the page for that keyword.
After you do this for a while you are on page one for a bunch of them and you have targeted traffic coming to your offer!
What IS targeted traffic? It’s traffic that types in a search term (keyword) that indicates that they are interested!

And not just as a result of the article being a good traffic supplier, it is. But it’s also a result of Google seeing your new one way link and it’s anchor text name.
That’s it folks it’s a two-fer big time!
Two streams of traffic for one small effort.
I have a couple of ’secrets” here. Secrets are just something you don’t know..yet.
Here it is. I have a method for finding the keywords that will get me well ranked in the shortest possible time.
You need that. The good folks at The Keyword Academy know how and YOU CAN LEARN HOW for $1.
Otherwise you are lost.
Here’s the other “secret.”.
I submit my articles to a mass submission outfit that gets my article out to thousands of publishers. It’s $50 per month. That’s real…but…if you give it a good go you’ll earn more than $50 per month the first month just from article submissions. But don’t let’s get ahead of ourselves.
MASS submission. Get it? BIG submission.
Your articles, and their clever links go out to thousands of publishers.
MASSive traffic. MASSive amounts of one way anchor text links and I’m starting to MASS up some money.
Remember this on your quest for a way to make money online.
Remember this one thing.
Money = Offer + Traffic… or… Offer + Traffic = Money. It is expressed other ways, too. A lot of folks would say that traffic is the hardest component to come up with. But it’s not hard after you have been at what I am doing for the last few months. This is getting big.
This is the only actually simple method of making money online that I know of. And you can do it too.

The links are “in context” AND they are the keywords I am constantly improving my rankings for – piece of cake!
Now, when someone types in “targeted traffic” (without the quote marks) they just might land on this page. Actually I have done it many times with many keywords so it IS doable!
So, what DO you need to make money online?

You need an OFFER on the website – doesn’t have to be fancy.
You need TRAFFIC to that site (articles) and that site climbing in the rankings for it’s applicable keywords (articles do that IF you use the right resource box (example above)

In my search for targeted traffic, free targeted traffic, and targeted web traffic I found more and more good reasons AND more good WAYS to approach getting targeted web site visitors to your offer page.
There is a HUGE bunch of very smart people currently studying SEO for the basic purpose of getting the exact right type of targeted visitor to their offer page
Tips on Getting Targeted Website Traffic.
1. Have great content that is VERY relevant to the keywords you are targeting. Have the keyword you are targeting and it’s close relatives.
Lisa Parmley of Inline SEO talks in terms of the ‘keyword’ and it’s ‘nested’ versions. Here’s a good example. If you were going for ‘targeted traffic’ you would also include in your content ‘free targeted traffic’ and ‘how to get targeted web site traffic.’
Other versions would be ‘targetted traffic’ and ‘free targeted website traffic.’
Use the Google keyword tool – it FREE and It’s GOOD!
2. Get some backlinks to your page and IF it was targeting ‘rain boots’ you would want the backlinks to emanate from text like “if you are looking for a good deal on rain boots…. you would want to use ‘rain boots’ AND ‘deal on rain boots’ and ‘good deal on rain boots’ and ‘good rain boots, as your anchor text.
You want VARIATIONS in your backlink anchor text so that Google sees it as more natural.
I’m getting fast indexing (usually 5 to 10 minutes) and ranking at some level right away, followed by a slow march (sometimes fast) to the front pages.
