Lately I have been converting into a search engine marketer lusting after free targeted traffic.
That’s a good, fancy name (SEO) for a person who wants to get high rankings in the “organic” (natural) search results for a given keyword.
You see, there are products that are perfect for certain markets. Or, better yet, for certain segments of certain markets.
Let me start over with an example.
The old, tired example I fall back on is, the “Acne Cure” market. I don’t know why I have not gone into that market because I have given it so much thought as an example that it should be a natural for me.
But let’s just say, for example, that you have a good offer on a “fast acne cure.”
One of the people in your array of market types is a teenager coming up on a date. If he has acne, he is likely to type into Google… “buy fast acne cure” and right here is where a lot of people have their “aha” moment.
You see, if you did the things that are necessary to rank high for “buy fast acne cure” here is what would happen.
The practically desperate acne sufferer would type in “buy fast acne cure” and, since you had your offer page and everything else optimized (optimized = ducks in a row) for “buy fast acne cure” as soon as he/she typed in the four word phrase…up would pop your URL and it’s brief description.
Of these searchers a good percentage of them would click on your offer page and, of those, a good percentage would buy, causing you to be in profit.
You did nothing underhanded. You simply “let” them find your page (url and content which matches their search query) and offered a solution to their problem (search query).

Let’s review my “Old School” formula….
Offer + Traffic = Sales.
Ah…traffic. The big one.
In order to get targeted web site traffic you need a web page with an offer on it and accompanying text content that is VERY relative to the offer.
In the case of this page here, the offers I have are for ‘targeted traffic solutions’ and the people who are guided to this page have indicated an interest in traffic – especially in getting targeted traffic to their web page.
People coming to your page! But not just any old kind of traffic. We want “targeted traffic” and, even better, we want FREE targeted traffic.
A big internet marketing outfit called Stompernet did a study a while back ( 1/2 year) and found that the conversion ratio between those who respond to an organic search result, as opposed to a “sponsored (ppc, paid,etc.) search result is 4x! Four times as many buyers.
I believe it.
I have a website that I pay to send 1500 people a month to on fairly tight focus keywords.
When we “source” our sales we hear far more refer back to the organic listings AND a WHOLE BUNCH of our sales on that site originate OUTSIDE our geo-located adwords campaign.
So what does this tell you? I think it tells us all that CPC is constantly rising (it IS an AUCTION) and that organic search results are MORE EFFECTIVE and FREE!
Let’s all go get FREE TARGETED TRAFFIC! We need the sales!
