NEW SPECIAL REPORT ON AFFILIATE SALES! – FREE!
How To Upload Nvu Files With Cyberduck.
Copyright © 2009 Riley West – As published on Submit Your Article.
When I first started uploading files to my file manager I did it by hand.
I did it that way because it was easy to figure out how to do it and I was intimidated by the sound of File Transfer Protocol (ftp). Doing it by hand works and I got along quite a while that way.
Then, one day I wanted to upload about 250 files all for one website. Yes, it can get that big!
When you consider graphics, sales pages, content pages, One Time Offers (oto), licenses, documents, disclaimers and privacy policies, it gets complicated.
So I decided to go get Cyberduck and get with it. By the way, it’s free!
I went over to http://cyberduck.ch/ and hit the download link. Just follow the instructions and it is soon an installed app on your computer. Your Mac that is.
If you are suffering along with a regular PC don’t despair. There is an FTP program called Filezilla – http://filezilla-project.org/
I haven’t used this one but I hear it is easy to use and works on both Macs and PC’s.
For the sake of discussion lets just go with the idea that you have files to upload and some of the files are Nvu files. Nvu is a FREE html webpage editing software that works for both Macs and PC’s.
I am not going to try to replace the help section at Cyberduck in this one article. It’s straightforward and will tell you what to do better than I could…but…there are some details that will trip you up that this article can cover.
Here is one of the things that will trip you up first and foremost when you start uploading files and that detail is their names! The files names, that is.
File names can’t contain spaces or capitals. They can contain numbers. Otherwise they just won’t upload.
I need to stop here for a moment and talk to you about storing your files. That is, where you put them. You want to get it right the first time! Otherwise link propagation will drive you nuts.
Here’s that scenario. You name and upload a file. The file is up there on your server for all the world to access via the web. That name you gave it is part of it’s URL, which stands for Uniform Resource Locator but I just think of it as it’s “address”.
Now you go out into the world and advertise that URL. You put it in emails. You’ll put it in blog posts. It will be on other web pages. It’ll get around!
Here’s the nugget. If you ever, for some reason, need to change the files URL, there will be a bunch of dead links out there and they are YOUR links! You’ll never find them all.
So, that said, we have one other little thing to do before we can upload Nvu files with Cyberduck. That is that we have to know our website “code” names and insert those into Cyberduck. Otherwise Cyberduck will “fail to make connection” and won’t upload.
I had to call my hosts help staff to find those names but once I did everything was a go and your FTP will remember the codes so you don’t have to! These things are called “FTP Settings” and they usually reside in your Web Hosting Account Details. These details will be “Host” like ftp.my_internet_marketing.com Also included will be your user ID and password.
There’s one other thing that will simplify your life a bit and that is “folders”. They are often referred to as “Subdirectories”. If I am uploading multiple dozens of files that make up an entire website I always upload it as a whole, in a folder. This is easy and it’s crucial. Simply upload the file batch in it’s folder named “trafficity”. (example for this article)
When you add files (new pages – offers, etc.) to this site you will simply upload to that file folder! So, let’s say your file batch that you intend to upload is called “trafficcity”
If your Domain name is “My_Internet_Marketing.com and one of the files in your batch is named “index.html”, your URL for that file would be My_Internet_Marketing.com/trafficcity/index.html.
Remember this…you DON”T want to go back and reorganize your files because, as soon as you rearrange them, they will have different URL’s and madness lies that direction.
To upload the folder to your host’s servers the first time you click on the duck. A window will open and in the upper left corner is an open connection icon. Click on it and this is where you will enter your FTP settings. Subsequently you will not have to do this again, since Cyberduck will remember them for you. If everything is correct it will open your website and show you every file in a nice, easy to read list format.
But you don’t want to read files, you want to upload a batch of files on your desktop to your server. Right at center top there is a box with what looks like a sprocket and a down arrow and it’s called “action”. Click it and pull down to “upload”.
Now it will show you a directory and you want to click on desktop, at which point, it will list everything on your desktop alphabetically so now you select your file batch, which for this article is called “trafficcity”.
Select it and click the upload button. Sit back and relax for a minute. It’ll be done soon and now you have all those files up on your server (your host’s server) and they’ll be ready to access and use! You are on your way!

An Autoresponder Will Give You More Than One Chance!
Copyright © 2009 Riley West - As published on Submit Your Article.
If you have been looking into making money online for a while now I’m sure you have heard about email marketing and autoresponders.
An autoresponder is that incredible software that builds your list for you and sends out your sequential email messages.
Hasn’t everybody in Internet marketing heard the line “The Money is in the list!”
What an autoresponder really does is give you a second chance…and a third chance, and a fourth…
That’s it, in a nutshell. Autoresponders can give you dozens of opportunities to sell the same single customer that may or may NOT have purchased from you during their first visit to your site.
Here are the four possible outcomes.
One. The visitor comes to your site and doesn’t buy and subsequently leaves. You’ve got nothing.
Two. Your visitor buys on the first visit, and you made money. But now they are gone. Better than nothing.
Three. They didn’t buy the first time but you have their name and email address! You have a second chance to sell them something. Actually more than a “second chance”. This is big!
Fourth. The visitor to your page arrives, buys, AND leaves their name and email address! That’s the best of both worlds.
Many email marketers will tell you they’d rather have the name and email if they had to choose between a purchase and an opt-in. An opt-in on your list has much more potential than a visitor on your offer page.
The list of your customers, as it grows, is almost the same thing as money in the bank. Your money and growing! You choose how to withdraw it.
I don’t know if you have started an online based business yet but I can tell you that there is no time like right now. Why?
Because there is no recession online…only growth. There’s room for you. Opportunity abounds.
The only things holding you back are…
1. Deciding you want to do it! This isn’t for everybody, but it might be perfect for you.
2. Once you’ve made that decision, you have to decide HOW you are going to go about it.
You could go for Affiliate Sales, Blogging for cash, niche marketing or any of a number of methods for conducting an online business or just making money online.
But, whatever you do, if you want an actual online business, you really HAVE to have an autoresponder or you’ll be leaving a LOT of money on the table. More, actually, than you’ll sell in first time sales on your site.
Here is how I manage my list. This is only a list of my rules.
Rule Number One – Don’t send very often. I use 4 day breaks, which works out to slightly less than 2 per week. It’s also less work for me! I can send better quality.
Rule Number Two – No sales pitches! Give folks information they can use to enhance their efforts and improve their position. Include some links to products, people, and programs that might also improve your subscribers efforts.
Some of those recommendations can be affiliate links (income for you)…but NEVER include affiliate links just for the money. It’s creepy and it will show. Bad karma.
Rule Number Three – The Golden Rule. I won’t send anything that is not helpful or would bother me if I got it. It’s simple.
Those are some of the details of email marketing. No one questions it’s efficacy. You really have to have it or you are not an internet marketer.
It’s just right for you as a marketer if you use it in a way that mirrors your modus operandi.
My advice? Get it, use it, and be cool. An autoresponder will advance and enhance your business.
There are few things that will enhance an online business as much as a good list building autoreponder. If you’d like to find out more and get a FREE PDF MONEY MAKER plus a NEW FREE Ebook go to Riley West’s blog not :=>http://www.makinganinternetmarketer.com

How To Install A Paypal Button On Your Web Site!
Copyright © 2009 Riley West - As published on Submit Your Article.
I started my Internet Marketing business not knowing how to do it. I guess that’s the way most people start. There are so many details. One of the details that really stopped me in my tracks was the little matter of getting a paypal button installed and working.
The first time or two I tried to do this I gave up in frustration and beer. But I persevered. All of a sudden one day, I got it!
And now I can make it easy for you. What’s the first thing to understand? It is easy!
It began the day I decided to put up an offer I had put together, drive some traffic to it, and see if it would sell.
Maybe I’d make some money online. Sounds good, right?
One thing is for sure, you can’t make any money unless you have a way to collect it! And that’s Paypal.
I had an account there already, for personal reasons, but, I wanted go commercial so I had to jump through some additional hoops.
After that was over, I made my way to the main page of my account and started looking around. I found a pull down menu called “Profile”. It didn’t seem natural to me that paypal buttons would be under “profile”, but they are, and now you know.
So I clicked on profile and it took me to a page called “profile summary”. It’s a busy page which had three columns of categories. You’ll want to look in the right side column called “Selling Preferences”.
About five lines down, there it is. You select “My saved Buttons”, even if you don’t have any saved buttons!
That jumps you to another page! If you look over to the right, there it is, in very small print. It’s a link to “Create new button”. Click it.
Now you jump to another page!
Look at Step One. I was selling a product so I left the first choice at “product”.
Move down one.
The second choice is a simple yes or no. I clicked “no” because that decides to give you a “buy now” button.
Now you get to name your product. Make it simple and clear. Type it in. You can skip “item ID”.
Next is the price! Be sure to get that right. Then you want to select “Secure Merchant ID”. That way people can’t view the source at your website, which would allow them to get your email for spam purposes!
Now you are done with creating the button, but there’s more. A lot more.
With downloadable products it is typical to send your customer to a download page when they finish purchasing.
This means you better have a download page and know it’s URL (address). Making a download page is a whole different article. It’s been suggested that you learn a little HTML editing. I’ll bet you heard it a million times. Don’t worry, the basic stuff is easy.
Next is a simple but critical step. You move down, past Step Two (it doesn’t apply to you) and open Step 3.
I do it this way.
1st choice – No.
2nd choice – No.
3rd choice – No.
4th choice – No.
Skip the next choice and you are at the one we care about. This is where you put in the address (URL) of your download page. Put it in! Move down and save.
Right after saving you will be shuttled to your button’s code. Copy it.
Now go to the sales page on which you want the button. What I do is find the place I want the button to be on the page and I type in “paypal button”.
Now…switch to the source code of that page and find the very words you typed in and select them, and only them. Now hit paste. Remember back when you copied your button’s code? This is where it goes.
Switch back to normal and…there it is! Your paypal button, right where you want it, and it works! I like to type the words “only $7″ right above the button. Be sure to hit save.
Click that button to check it! It should whisk you right to your very first paypal payment page. You’re in business!
As a final check you should go through the whole process like a customer. Make sure you go to the right download page and everything is working. If it is, fine. If it isn’t, fix it. It could be just a little tiny typo. Work slowly.
Don’t worry, any money you pay into your own paypal account is still yours, minus a small fee.
Now, go get some traffic to that page, but not just any old traffic. Get the kind of traffic that wants what you are offering!
Then you really are in business.
Sometimes something as basic as a paypal button can stop your progress. Learn more about this and more good, solid, stuff on online marketing. For FREE reports and a MONEY MAKING PDF go right over to Riley West’s Blog. :=> http://www.makinganinternetmarketer.com.

How To Make It Easy To Succeed At Internet Marketing!
Copyright © 2009 Riley West - As published on Submit Your Article.
Almost everybody I know in this business started out losing money and certainly not earning back any of the losses. Facing facts, we recognize that, until your income from your efforts exceeds the cost of your efforts, you aren’t making any money!
These people I know acquired the necessary skills to be able to succeed and just kept keeping on, learning more all they way. That’s the only way it gets easy.
Back in the early seventies I was trained by aviators to become a pilot. Until I decided one day that I’d like to fly I had never given it any consideration. I knew nothing.
So I walked into the local pilot training office at my little airport and signed up. They took me for a flight! While we were up there, flying around, my instructor let me control the airplane, but only a little.
Back on the ground my instructor gave me a book to read that was about how airplanes fly and told me to read it. The whole thing! So I did. That night.
And that was just the beginning. I trained like an obsessed eagle and I had my license in 3 months flat. The next day I took my wife for a sightseeing flight. What a thrill. You can learn anything. You just have to decide to do it and take action!
Here are the things you need to know at least a little about or you just won’t be able to do anything related to Internet Marketing.
1. You need to be able to build a basic web page and put it up on the web. That would be HTML web page editing, domain and hosting packages purchased, and knowing how to use FTP software to upload the files you want at your address on the web.
While you are at this stage it’s a good idea to arrange to be paid. Paypal is the choice for many, at first, because they make it easy. You must know a little HTML to put their pay button on your web page. There goes that darn HTML again.
2. You need to be able to drive a certain kind of traffic to your offering on the web page. That would be targeted traffic…the kind that wants what you have. You can see how that would work, can’t you? I use article marketing. You are reading one of them now and so have thousands of other folks.
3. Since you, at this time, know a little about HTML web page editing it’s time for the next step, the building of your list. That takes an autoresponder and learning a bit about email marketing, one of the very best forms of Internet Marketing. You have to know a little HTML to put the opt-in form on your webpage, but you will at this point!
There’s more to learn like picking a market, and picking a product to sell, etc. There’s always more to learn, and that’s actually a good thing. You don’t want to get bored do you?
And that’s how to make success at Internet Marketing easy for yourself. Learn the basic skills needed. Before you have these skills, making money online is going to be nearly impossible.
After you have these skills, almost anything will be possible.

How To Make Money With A $7 Report.
Copyright © 2009 Riley West - As published on Submit Your Article.
I didn’t get it at first. Actually, for being a clever fellow, I didn’t get much of anything at first. What I’m going to tell you isn’t perfect, but it’s close.
You can make a hundred dollars selling a seven dollar report!
This isn’t a trick statement or a “cute” ploy. It’s how you look at it and it’s real, fear not. On top of that it’s drop dead simple!
Thank goodness…I am so sick of complicated ways to make money online that there were a few times that I slammed my laptop shut, kicked my desk, and went to the second fridge for beer. My wife won’t tolerate beer in the first fridge.
Anyway, I started setting up some virtual real estate of my own. Since then I have come to realize that Internet Marketing (selling products by means of the Internet) can be done in simple ways and in vastly overcomplicated ways.
Lately, I ended up with a blog that actually has traffic, now, and it’s increasing. It’s a great feeling because for the first two months of posting my brains out Google didn’t bring me a single visitor. Now Google comes and takes a look every day.
Once you have traffic coming to a site you have the obligation (I feel) to try to help them. In these cases I present offers that can be used by low level internet marketers to just get in the game and start seeing deposits in their paypal accounts.
One of the things I like to offer are reports like “3 easy ways to get free traffic to your web page”. You can buy these reports with full PLR rights and rewrite them to suit yourself. Or, you can write one . I’m about 50/50 on this. I’m writing this one.
The most exciting things to put into reports are your affiliate links to products that are relevant to the report. It’s so simple, yet it’s ingenious and easy to do.
You see, the idea is that the person who takes your free traffic report ($7 with rights) might be interested in another product you have that’s like “Article Marketing for Targeted Traffic Report”.
You might even make more money GIVING the reports away in PDF form that they can’t change by making it clear to those who are picking it up that they have the right to pass it on as bonuses, etc. Either way is OK.
If your visitor takes the free one they can pass it on but it has YOUR money making links in it. Or, they pay $7 (or $17) and they get the rights to put THEIR links into it.
Only a fraction of them will follow through and the others will be passing them on with your original links undisturbed.
I could write an entire book on the psychology of people who buy How To Reports with PLR rights and then just let them linger on their hard drives. But, it happens and it happens a lot.
So, if it goes out free, you make money. If it goes out paid for, you make money.
You gotta like this, don’t you?
Now, get one of those reports, and put it where traffic that might be interested in the content of that report are showing up.
And check your paypal account.

Want a Web Page That Sells? Build Your Own!
Websites are made up from web pages. Some go to 50 pages or more! Still, a webpage, or web page, as it is called, is one page.
Sometimes the one page sites are referred to as “mini-sites.”
I like to think of them as an advertisement!
The reason I put up one page websites is to sell something.
In order to sell something my site has to satisfy some conditions.
It has to offer a solution to somebody’s problem! There are any number of problems when it comes to the human condition, and, if you have a solution to the problem, you can probably sell it online.
So a relevant example would be a site that sells web software and a tuition course for that software. Website making software is one of the biggest sales categories on the web.
That’s precisely because they can be used for so many different things AND be made to reach those people who are interested in that websites offering.
What if you were a piano dealer? When you run an advertisement in the newspaper people who need tires for their car see your ad for pianos. That’s a bad match.
But, when you make a website about the history of pianos…the people who type a search query into the Google box like “history of pianos” may discover you almost immediately. That’s relevance. These people are NOT looking for tires. Otherwise they would have typed in “tires”!
It’s a message to market match! Websites work that way.
To make a website page (webpage, page) you need an HTML editor. Basically this is a word processor (sort of). When you type onto the page the word “Hello” the editor software creates the necessary HTML code that computers can read on the web.
I call that the “backside”. Like pictures and text on the front and the code for that on the back.
That is what an HTML editor does for you. It lets you arrange the page the way you like it,and, as you are doing that it is compiling the code on what I call the backside.
It makes it pretty darn easy.
You don’t want to know everything about this code. You want to be able to write “Click here for more info” on the page and when someone sees it on the webpage and clicks on it the software code takes the clicker right to it, right away.
These wonderful things are called “links”.
It’s possible that they (links) are the most important part of the HTML experience because it lets you place your customer in front of the message you want them to see. With just a click.
I’ll bet you can imagine what to do with links, and after a few experiments with it you will be a pro.
Open an HTML editor on your computer and ask for a blank document. Type into that document something like this…
“How would you like to see something really cool?”
Leave that sit for a moment and go out on the web and find something really cool. A pretty picture will do.
When you find something you want to practice linking to, go up to the top of your browser window and copy the thing that usually starts with “http://”. Copy the whole thing.
Now go back to your HTML editor and find the “link” symbol.
Then, select the words “something really cool” and click the link symbol.
Now you put the URL you got online into the link box and, perhaps, select “Open in new window.” Now, test the link.
Now you’ve gone and done it! You figured out how to link to anything on the web. Now you can send them to affiliate page and a lot of other opportunities.
I think everybody that is just getting started is put off by the prospect of the whole website thing.
That’s just because you aren’t familiar with it.
That’s why one of the scammier headlines you’ll see would read like this “Earn $300 per day and You Don’t Need a Website!”
That’s just a hook. They know their market target! Folks who haven’t learned how to make a web page, that’s who!
Don’t let that be you! You go, folks. You can do it! It even gets fun in a little while.
